The system also includes: <br />260 hydrants, 331 valves, 2 wells, and a 500,000-gallon water tower. <br />Commercial Water ConnectionFeeAssistance <br />At the last City Council meeting, the Council voted to extend the program through the end of 2023.The <br />program offers half-priced hook-up charges for businesses hooking to city water. <br />WellheadProtectionPlan <br />The Minnesota Department of Health held a kick-off meeting with city staff and consultants for the <br />implementation of the city’s Part-2 Wellhead Protection Plan. The group reviewed items in the documents <br />and the timelines associated with various activities.Staff will be following up on the action items over the <br />course of the next few months. <br />Well #2 Repairs <br />City staff has applied for a reimbursement grant from Xcel Energy for the installation of the Variable <br />Frequency Drive (VFD), used in the repairs for Well #2. <br />2022 Thin Overlay Program and City Hall Parking Lot Improvements <br />Construction on this year’s street maintenance project is underway. Spot curb replacements and repairs to <br />storm drain inlets are being completed.The streets will be milled (a machine will grind off about 1 inch) <br />th <br />beginning on September 27. Manholes lids will be adjusted in the days following, with paving to begin <br />rd <br />the week of October 3. <br />Access to the neighborhood and your driveway will be maintained at all times, with the exception of when <br />equipment is immediately in front of your home. Often, this is only for a few minutes or maybe up to an <br />hour at a time. Please do our workers a favor and keep clear of them, whenever possible. If you can take a <br />different route to stay out of their way, that’s always appreciated. <br />City Hall Parking Lot Lighting <br />The City Council reviewed and approvedplans for proposed lighting at City Hall. The work would be <br />quoted for construction in the spring of 2023 in an effort to allow time to secure a grant through the <br />Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). <br /> <br />
