CITY OF CENTERVILLEREQUEST <br />FOR ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: RequestedMeetingDate: <br />November 1, 2022 <br />Administration/Legal <br />IX.2.c <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />Moratoriums <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />In the last two months, the City Council (CC) has enacted moratoriums to allow time to carefully consider <br />regulation of certain issues. <br />Canabis - Passed at the CC's August 28, 2022 meeting and prohibits the sales, testing, manufacturing and <br />distribution of cannabis and products that contain cannabinoids (CBD) or tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) whether <br />for medical, recreational. This was in response to a recent legalization of these activities by the state of MN. <br />The legalization, contained very few restrictions. <br />Medical Facilities - Passed at the CC's October 23, 2022 meeting and prohibits new or expanded medical <br />facilities, clinics, and other businesses which provide medical treatment or counseling, including dispensing <br />pharmaceutical drugs. Recent market activity related to drug treatment facilities prompted this action. <br />COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: <br />N/A <br />REQUESTED ACTION: <br />Update only.
