PARKS AND RECREATION <br />Volunteer Appreciation Event <br />Preparations for the second annual Volunteer Appreciation Event are being completed. The event has <br />been rescheduled, Carbone’s will be catering the event with refreshments and dessert being provided. <br />Invitations will be forwarded shortly to those that have provided the City with assistance in its many <br />events/areas throughout the year. It is still planned for Hidden Spring Park. The City appreciates their <br />volunteers and this is one way we recognize them for serving. <br /> <br />Emerald Ash Borer <br />Do you have Ash Trees? Are you aware of the <br />Emerald Ash Borer? Are your trees dying and you <br />do not know why? Do you know the types of trees <br />in your yard? They could be Ash and the City <br />Council just approved Rainbow Tree Care as the <br />City’s preferred vendor for the treatment of Emerald Ash Borer. The City <br />has utilized their services for several trees within parks and at City Hall. <br />Rainbow Tree Care’s telephone number is: 952-767-6920, web site: https://www.rainbowtreecare.com/. <br />They are offering reduced pricing for treatment, a guarantee, etc. <br /> <br />Halloween Hustle 5K/Trunk or Treat Event <br />The city’s Parks & Recreation <br />Committee and EDA have collaborated <br />with the Centennial Community <br />Education and Centennial Alumni <br />Association to offer a “Trunk or Treat” <br />event on October 29, 2022 from 10 a.m. <br />to 12 p.m. in the Centerville Elementary <br />School parking lot following the annual <br />Halloween Hustle 5K. Businesses are encouraged to decorate their <br />vehicles and hand out candy, small items, promotional material, etc. <br />The Centennial Lakes Police Department and Centennial Fire District <br />will be on-site to interact with the kids. Click here for an announcement of the event for businesses to <br />RSVP. As part of the event there will be a 5K run; click here to register. Visit <br />https://www.centervillemn.com/ to check it out. <br />Veterans Day Ceremony – Save the Date <br />Save the Date for our upcoming Veterans Day <br />Ceremony, which will take place on November 9 from <br />5:00pm to 7:00pm at City Hall. Staff is working on <br />working on a new museum exhibit that honors our <br />veterans, and we need your help. Do you have <br />memorabilia of your time in the military? Of a <br />grandparent or sibling? Maybe you have a diary, some <br />letters, a medal, a uniform, or a picture? Did they bring <br />anything back from overseas when they served? <br />Remember, a "veteran" isn't just for wartime or foreign service. Anyone who served in the Armed Forces <br /> <br />
