CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> COUNTY OF ANOKA <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 23-011g <br /> A RESOLUTION ACCEPTING THE RESIGNATION OF <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER MICHELLE LAKSO <br /> AND <br /> DECLARING A VACANCY ON THE CITY COUNCIL <br /> WHEREAS, Michelle Lakso filed an Affidavit for office (Council Member) on August 8 <br /> 2022, was subsequently elected to a 4-year term on the City Council and, per state statute, took <br /> office on January 2, 2023 (the first Monday in January), and <br /> WHEREAS, on January 5, 2023 Council Member Lakso informed the City of <br /> Centerville that she has resigned her position, noting that her resignation would be effective upon <br /> the Council's acceptance of said resignation at their regular meeting on January 11, 2023 and <br /> WHEREAS, more than two years remain in the unexpired term of Council Member <br /> Lakso's office, requiring a special election to be held at or before the next regular city election <br /> (2024), and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council may appoint a person to fill the vacant seat until such <br /> special election is held, and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to recognize that Michelle Lakso honorably served <br /> the residents of the City of Centerville as a member of the City Council. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF CENTERVILLE,ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br /> The Council accepts the resignation of Council Member Michelle Lakso; and, <br /> The Council declares that a vacancy exists on the City Council effective on January 11, <br /> 2023; and, <br /> The Council shall temporarily fill the vacant seat on the City Council by accepting letters <br /> of interest from eligible citizens and thereafter select a replacement by action of the City Council <br /> (Appointment) as set forth in Minnesota Statutes Sections 412.02 and 471.46 until such time as a <br /> special election is held. <br /> PASSED and adopted by the Centerville City Council this the 11th day of January, 2023. <br /> D.
