NewHope <br />TheCityofNewHopehasadoptedanewordinanceregulatingthesaleofconsumable <br />tetrahydrocannabinol(THC)productsintheCity.ApprovedbytheNewHopeCityCouncilatitsNov.28 <br />meeting,theordinancerequiresanyonesellingedibleTHCproductstoobtainalicensefromtheCity. <br />TheordinancerevisionwasrecommendedfollowingchangestostatestatuteinJuly,legalizingcertain <br />ͻĻķźĬƌĻĭğƓƓğĬźƓƚźķƭͼderivedfromhempthatcontainasmallamountofTHC,theprimarypsychoactive <br />compoundfoundinthecannabisplant.StatelawnowpermitsthesaleofproductscontainingTHCthat <br />areintendedtobeeaten,commonlyknownasͻĻķźĬƌĻƭͲͼandbeveragescontainingTHC.Theproducts <br />maycontainnomorethan0.3%ofanyTHCtotal,nomorethanfivemilligramsofTHCperservingand <br />nomorethan50milligramsofTHCperpackage.Thelawalsoprohibitsthesaleoftheseproductsto <br />anyoneunder21andcontainsseverallabelingandpackagingrequirements. <br />Percityordinance,businessesareprohibitedfromsellingTHCproductswithoutacitylicense.Also, <br />sellingedibleTHCproductsfromoffsaleliquorstores,vendingmachines,kiosksorothermovable <br />placesofbusinessisprohibited.Italsoplacesaminimumagerequirementof18yearsforthoseselling <br />theproducts.Licensedbusinessesaresubjecttocompliancecheckstoensuretherequirementsare <br />beingfollowed. <br />TheCitywillissueamaximumof20ediblecannabinoidlicenseswhichwillcost$500annually. <br /> <br />
