PLANNING & ZONING Public Hearings The Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on March 14 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall to discuss potential changes to two sections of city code as outlined below. You may also submit comments at info2centervillemn.com Temporary Dwellings and Structures The Planning & Zoning Commission discussed Temporary Dwellings and Structures at their meeting on January 17, 2022. This ordinance deals with the occupancy of things like RV's and tents. The city's current ordinance does not allow occupancy of these, for any length of time. The commission is considering: For RVs • Stay up to 14 days/year/parcel w/no winter stays • No exchange of money allowed • Must have principal structure on lot • Must be parked in driveway • Self-service permit required For Tents • Limited stays • No permits necessary Parking Restrictions The Commission is considering amending language of the current City Code regarding parking requirements, including restrictions on parking overnight, during snow events and review of all existing areas designated "no parking" with the possibility of adding additional areas. THC Regulations Centerville, along with many cities across the state, issued a moratorium on the sale of THC products after the state legalized edibles in July of 2022, with few restrictions. Those included: • 21+ to purchase; no marketing to children • Max 5 mg/serving, max 50 mg/package As required by a moratorium, the city is studying the issue by talking with our law enforcement and school officials, watching what other cities are doing to see what is working and what is not, and soliciting input from the public.
