CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />April 12, 2023 <br />Public Works <br />VII.5 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />City Hall Security System Upgrades and Monitoring Contract <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />As part of our city hall renovation project, we added several features to increase the building's security, <br />including bullet resistant glass at the front desk, a kevlar-lined dais and panic buttons at strategic locations. We <br />purposefully left out a refresh of our security system in order to have some time to evaluate the functional <br />logistics of our new space; then decide what was appropriate in terms of securing accesses, etc. At this point <br />we are ready to make the final modifications to our system, by installing a new, modern control panel. We <br />would also like to combine the monitoring contract for fire and security to save some on the monthly fee. <br />Along with these minor improvements, staff is also getting the security camera system that was contemplated <br />with the original design, installed.
