<br />Statewide Health Improvement Partnership Grant Submissions <br />The Committee was successful with their submissions of two (2) Statewide Health Improvement Partnership <br />(SHIP) grants. They have recommended that Council accept them and commence the process of completing <br />required documentation for timeline, acquiring the items will be a responsibility of Anoka County and <br />installation completed by City Staff. The grant amount is $3,000/grant. Look forward to the installation of <br />a free-standing Bike Repair Stand, and Bottlefiller, w/Drinking Fountain & Pet Station for Laurie LaMotte <br />Memorial Park and a Bottlefiller, w/Drinking Fountain & Pet Station for Acorn Creek Park. <br /> <br />New Audio Equipment <br />The Committee recommended to Council approval of purchasing new audio equipment to be utilized during <br />events held within the City that require amplification of sound (i.e. public presentation, Music in the Park, <br />Fete des Lacs, Skate/Sled Night, etc.). The commission recommended the changes as presented. The revised table will <br />be considered by the City Council at an upcoming meeting. <br /> <br />THC Regulations <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission has asked staff to explore licensing the sale of Cannabis products, in a <br />similar manner to tobacco or alcohol. Staff will bring back some recommendations, working towards a <br />recommendation to the city council. Staff is also watching the state legislature as it debates bills which seek <br />to legalize marijuana. Some versions of these bills will prohibit the city from issuing licenses. <br /> <br />CENTERVILLE CARES <br />Across the country, April is recognized as Fair Housing Month. The Fair <br />Housing Act prohibits discrimination in housing based on race, color, <br />religion, sex, familial status, national origin, and disability, and commits <br />recipients of federal funding to affirmatively further fair housing in their <br />communities.
