REQUEST:Variance – additional ground signs at Amazon Fulfillment Center st ADDRESS: 6985 21AvenueSouth PIDS: 24-31-22-32-0004, 23-31-22-41-0057, 23-31-22-41-0053 OWNER:Amazon.Com Services LLC INTRODUCTION thst The Amazon Fulfillment Centeris under construction on the 40-acre site between 20and 21 Avenues South, south of Commerce Drive, and north of Fairview Street. Thefacility includes a 140,000-sq-ftFulfillment Centerbuilding, employee parking on the east side, van parking and staging on the south side, and truck access and loading docks on the north side. When the project was approved, signage was left for review later according to the City’s sign ordinance. Ryan Companies has applied on behalf of Amazon for site signage, which includes ground signs at three entrances to the site. City sign regulations limit a site to one ground sign. Amazon is requesting a variance to allow two additional ground signs, for a total of three such signs. PROPOSED SIGNAGE The site plan is illustrated on the next page, showing the location of the three proposed signs: st Avenue S, at the NE corner of the site; At the truck entrance on 21 st At the employee entrance on 21Avenue S, on the east side of the site; st At the van entrance, the first driveway west of 21Avenue S off Fairview Street, on the south side of the site. The signs will each be 7 ft tall with a sign face 5 ft X 6 ft, or 30 sq ft, as illustratedon the next page. The application and narrative provide more rationale for the requested signs.
