CITY OF CENTERVILLEREQUEST FOR ACTION Agenda Item # Department: RequestedMeetingDate: July 10, 2023 .Planning TITLE OF ISSUE: Establishing No Parking Zones (New and Existing) BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Staff reviewed city's no parking areas with the Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Commission in March 2023 and with City Council in May 2023. A public hearing was held at the P&Z meeting and there were no public comments. Prior to city council review, however, the owner of 2050 Main Street approached the city requesting that on-street parking be allowed on Fairview and Commerce Drive; the property owner obtained letters of support from surrounding property owners in the industrial district. The issue is that trucks are queuing on Main Street while they wait to enter the property. City Council discussed possible solutions, such as allowing n-street parking along the south side of Commerce, or neighboring business permit seasonal parking. Re-striping Commerce 2 lane (see attached drawing). Council is sending this back to the P&Z for further consideration.
