CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: September 13, 2023 Administration VII.7 TITLE OF ISSUE: Steven Douglas King Day BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: On August 20, 2023, Steven Douglas King, a sitting City Council Member of the City of Centerville, Minnesota, passed away at his home in downtown Centerville, with his wife by his side Steve served on the City Council for 12 years, and through his tenure, he served as a Liaison to the Parks & Recreation Committee, represented the Centerville City Council on the Centennial Fire District Steering Committee, North Metro Telecommunications Commission, Anoka County Fire Protection Council, Economic Development Committee (EDC), Economic Development Authority (EDA) and in the capacity of Deputy Mayor. Steve provided leadership and respected his fellow Council Members, City staff and all representatives of regional, State and Federal entities through his interactions. In recognition of Steve's service to this community, we'd like to declare August 20, 2023 to be Steven Douglas King DayinCentervilleMinnesota COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: N/A REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Motion to adopt Resolution 23-0XX, proclaiming August 20, 2023 as Steven Douglas King Day.
