City of Centerville <br />City Council Work Session Meeting Minutes <br />August 23, 2023 <br /> <br />Jr. Council Member Shaw stated that high school sports had commenced, cross-county would be <br />having their first meet in Duluth. <br /> <br />City Attorney Glaser reminisced about meeting Steve King for the first time, stated that he was <br />extremely annoyed with the City and ran for Council. He stated that he and the City would miss <br />him. <br /> <br />2. Council Reports <br /> <br />a. Taylor – <br /> Parks & Recreation – Council Member Taylor gave no report. <br /> <br />b. Koski – Council Member Koski asked for an update regarding the hotel study. Assistant City <br />Administrator Lewis stated that results should be forthcoming shortly. He thanked the Centerville <br />Lions for repairing the monument sign at Tracie Joy McBride Memorial Park. He stated that the <br />summer programs had been completed (Music in the Park and Main Street Market) and he <br />thanked the Parks & Recreation Committee along with Committee Member Peterson and his <br />family for their dedication to the community. He stated that the CLPD welcomed two new <br />officers and congratulated Corporal Krueger on his award and thanked him for his dedicated <br />service to the City as a whole as he also serves on the Planning & Zoning Commission. <br /> <br /> Planning & Zoning Commission – Council Member Koski gave no report. <br /> Fire Steering Committee – Council Member Koski stated that the meeting call response <br />times were discussed and decreasing/and getting first on scene and he thanked them for <br />assisting others. <br /> <br />c. Vacant - <br /> <br />d. Mosher – He stated that the Park & Recreation Committee had scheduled their annual Movie <br />in the Park Event for September 16, 2023 where they would be showing DC League of Super- <br />Pets. <br /> <br /> Economic Development Authority – Assistant City Administrator Lewis reported that <br />the board was reviewing the Revolving Loan Project and planning the Business <br />Appreciation event. <br /> Police Governing Board – Council Member Mosher stated that the board swore in two <br />new officers, approved their budget and an award was presented to Corporal Krueger from <br />the American Legion for Law Enforcement Office of the Year. <br /> <br />e. Love – Mayor Love stated that the Police Governing Board swore in Corporal Schroeder. He <br />also stated that the Centerville Cares portion of the Administrator’s Report discusses International <br />Overdose Awareness Day and provides some suggested resources/support for the issue(s). He <br />wanted to highlight that section to residents in the Report. He stated <br /> <br /> North Metro Telecommunications Commission – Mayor Love reported that the 2022 <br />audit was reviewed, accepted and he stated that the Commission is in a strong financial <br />position. He reported that the staff has been working with the Minnesota Office of <br />Broadband Development to identify areas of digital inequity in Minnesota through that <br />Page 6 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
