CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CVL,e teryCCe <br />Esta6Cished 1857 <br />Agenda Item # <br />Department: <br />Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />VIll.l <br />Public Works <br />October 25, 2023 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />Public Works Capital Equipment Purchase Update <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />Several meetings ago, the City Council authorized the purchase of 3 pick-up trucks, through the state bid, as <br />outlined in our Capital Equipment Replacement Plan (CERP). Given the recent auto market, Council <br />authorized staff to spend up to 20% over the amounts listed in the CERP. The window to order pick-ups <br />opened briefly and staff engaged with the auto dealer to place an order. The plan was to order a 1-Ton pickup <br />and 2, 3/4-Ton pickups. The price on the 1-ton was approximately 18% over the CERP allocation, so staff <br />placed this order. However, the price on the 3/4-ton pickups was almost 53% over. Staff did not order either of <br />the 2 remaining pickups in queue from the CERP. We continue to monitor the market for more competitive <br />deals and are looking at alternative ways to equip our crews.
