C. Site preparation: <br />1. Property owner will remove/mow trees and woody vegetation before spring of 2024. <br /> <br />2. In areas with actively growing vegetation, apply a glyphosate herbicide (Roundup® or equivalent) and a <br />directions. <br />3. Remove the dead vegetation by implementing a prescribed burn using appropriate procedures, <br />equipment and permits. <br /> <br />nd <br />4. Following the burn, allow regrowth to occur. Apply a 2 application of glyphosate herbicide (Roundup® <br />or equivalent) and a triclopyr herbicide (Vastlan® or equivalent) with appropriate surfactants, as per <br />egetation. <br />rd <br />5. Allow the site to green up, followed by a 3 application of a glyphosate herbicide (Roundup® or <br />equivalent) and a triclopyr herbicide (Vastlan® or equivale <br />minimum of 25 days before disturbing the vegetation with other procedures. <br />D. Seed and Seeding: <br />th <br />1. Acceptable seeding dates for native species are in the spring or summer before August 10 or in the fall <br />th <br />between September 20 and freeze-up. <br /> <br />2. All seed will be applied by hand broadcasting. <br />3. Raking will follow all grass seeding. <br /> <br />4. The seed mixes will consist of the following species and amounts: <br /> <br />Grass Seed <br /> <br />Mixed Height Mesic Prairie Grass Mix: 2 lbs / project area <br />20% Big Bluestem, 20% Side Oats Grama, 5% Canada Wild Rye, <br />5% Prairie Dropseed, 40% Little Bluestem, 10% Indian Grass <br />all by PLS weight. <br /> <br />Tall Wet Prairie Grass Mix: 0.37 lbs / project area <br />40% Big Bluestem, 10% Fringed Brome, 5% Canada Wild Rye, 5% Switch Grass, 25% Little Bluestem <br />15% Indian Grass, all by PLS weight. <br /> <br />Woodland Edge Grass Mix: 0.37 lbs / project area <br />30% Big Bluestem, 10% Fringed Brome, 2% Fox Sedge, 5% Poverty Oat Grass, 8% Canada Wild Rye, <br />20% Virginia Wild Rye, 2% Bottlebrush Grass, 23% Fowl Bluegrass, <br />all by PLS weight <br /> <br />bƚƷĻʹ A cover crop will be sown along with the native grasses at a rate of approximately 15 lbs./acre. Cover crop is an <br />annual grass species that germinates quickly and will reduce the risk of soil erosion on the site.
