<br />Approved <br /> <br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AND MEETING <br />JUNE 28, 2023 <br />5:00 & 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held their regularly scheduled City Council <br />Work Session & Meeting on June 28, 2023 in Council Chamber of City Hall and the Regular Council <br />meeting was live streamed by North Metro TV at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />WORK SESSION MEETING <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor D. Love called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />PRESENT: Mayor D. Love <br />Council Member Russ Koski (Arrived @ 5:01 p.m.) <br />Council Member Darrin Mosher <br />Council Member Steve King <br />Council Member Taylor <br />Junior Council Member Rowan Shaw (Non-Voting) <br /> <br />ABSENT: City Administrator, Mark Statz <br /> City Attorney, Kurt Glaser <br /> <br />STAFF: Assistant City Administrator, Athanasia Lewis <br /> Finance Director, Bruce DeJong <br /> <br /> <br />II. ITEMS OF DISCUSSION <br /> <br />1. Preliminary 2024 Budget Discussion <br /> <br />Finance Director DeJong reviewed the memorandum and preliminary budget contained in the packet <br />with Council. He stated that rough estimates are that there will be an increase in General Fund <br />expenditures of slightly over $275,000 with the majority of that being for public safety costs. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding the possibility of the funding formulation being modified for the police <br />budget, anticipated employee wage and benefit increases, additional minimal increases in expenditures <br />and revenue along with a tax levy increase of 2.34% ($68,470). It was stated that a portion the proposed <br />public safety increase would be offset by a one-time state public safety grant of $171,000. Discussion <br />also took place regarding the new Juneteenth holiday, upcoming union negotiations, interest rates and <br />investments, and backyard drainage funding and budget implications. <br /> <br />III. ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Mayor Love closed the Work Session at 6:15 p.m. <br /> <br /> <br />
