job classification covered by this AGREEMENT and return to a job classification <br />covered by this AGREEMENT shall have theirseniority calculated on their length <br />of service under this AGREEMENT for purposes of promotion, transfer and layoff <br />and total length of service with the EMPLOYER for other benefits under this <br />AGREEMENT. <br /> <br />2.7 SEVERANCE PAY: Payment made to an employee upon honorable termination of <br />employment. <br /> <br />2.8 OVERTIME: Work performed at the express authorization of the EMPLOYER in <br />excess of either eight (8) hours within a twenty-four (24) hour period (except for <br />shift changes) or more than forty (40) hours within a seven (7)day period. <br /> <br />2.9 CALL BACK: Return of an employee to a specified work site to perform assigned <br />duties at the express authorization of the EMPLOYER at a time other than an <br />assigned shift. An extension of or early report to an assigned shift is not a call <br />back. <br /> <br />2.10 PAY PERIOD: An interval of two (2) weeks, as delineated by a payroll check. <br /> <br />ARTICLE III – RECOGNITION <br />The EMPLOYER recognizes the UNION as the exclusive representative under Minnesota <br />Statutes, Section 179.71, Subd. 3 Section 179A.12, for all employees of the City of <br />Centerville Public Works Department who are public employees within the meaning of <br />Minnesota Statute 179A.03, Subd. 14, excluding clerical, engineering, supervisory, and <br />confidential employees. <br />ARTICLE IV – UNION SECURITY <br />In recognition of the UNION as the exclusive representative, the EMPLOYER shall: <br /> <br />4.1 Request for Dues Checkoff. The exc <br />lusive representative shall be allowed dues <br />checkoff for its members, provided that dues checkoff and the proceeds thereof <br />shall not be allowed to any exclusive representative that has lost its right to dues <br />checkoff. Upon receipt of a properly executed authorization card of the employee <br />involved, the Employer will deduct from the employee’s paycheck the dues as <br />authorized by the employee and as established by the Union as allowed in said <br />authorization. Initiation fees, dues, or other assessments shall commence no later <br />than thirty days (30) from either the date of employment or proper fair share <br />notification to the employee, whichever is later. This shall not apply to seasonal <br />and part-time employees until they reach the definition of public employee under <br />M.S. 179A.03, Subd. 14. <br /> such deduction to the appropriate designated officer of the UNION. <br />4.2 Remit <br />4.3 The UNION may designate certain employees from the bargaining unit to act as <br />Steward(s) and shall inform the EMPLOYER in writing of such choice. <br /> 2 <br /> <br />
