CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: January 24, 2024 Engineering VII.4b. TITLE OF ISSUE: Organizational Memberships - Minnesota Cities Stormwater Coalition BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Centerville has occasionally, been a member of the Minnesota Cities Stormwater Coalition (MCSC); an off-shoot of the League of Minnesota Cities, focused on agency-developed stormwater regulation. The organization works with regulators to ensure they understand the implications of proposed stormwater rules on cities. Two years ago, we were audited on our compliance with MS4 rules. These are the very rules which MCSC helped the MPCA develop over the past two decades. Without this voice in St. Paul these rules could be much more onerous and out of touch with the day to day operational capabilities of a city. Staff recommends participation and membership in this important group.
