CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING <br />FEBRUARY 3, 2024 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held a Special City Council Meeting <br />on February 3, 2024, in the Oneka Room at Hugo City Hall. <br /> <br />COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING <br />I. CALL TO ORDER 8:00am <br /> <br />Mayor Love called the meeting to order at 8:00a.m. <br /> <br />ROLL CALL <br /> <br />Not Approved <br />PRESENT: Mayor, D. Love <br />Council Member Russ Koski <br />Council Member Darrin Mosher <br />Council Member Steve King <br />Council Member Raye Taylor <br />Jr. Council Member Avery Sauber (non-voting) <br /> <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />STAFF: Mark Statz, Athanasia Lewis, Bruce DeJong, Paul Palzer, and Teresa Bender <br /> <br />II. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />1. 2024 Goals and Strategic Plan <br />Staff led an ice breaker session to kick off the meeting. Discussion ensued about what council <br />members promised their constituents and what they would like their legacy to be. Following the <br />ice breaker roundtable discussion, the Council heard presentations from city departments. Staff <br />were available for questions. <br /> <br />Administrator Statz then introduced the topic of population 5,000; he reviewed a few development <br />scenarios and discussion ensued about various build-out options, monies received for reaching a <br />population over 5,000, preserving CentervilleÓs small-town feel, Tax Increment Financing (TIF) <br />for a proposed development (LaLonde property), and planning for capital improvement projects, <br />like a community center or monument. <br /> <br />The Council discussed their 2024-2025 Strategic Plan and confirmed they are okay with their <br />current plan. The direction to staff is to continue implementation of our stated goals and priorities, <br />furthering development of programs such as CV Cares). The Council also directed staff to <br />continue focusing on foundational resiliency, i.e., software, records retention before moving on. <br /> <br />III. ADJOURNMENT <br />The meeting was adjourned at 1:00p.m. <br /> <br />
