Public Comments on 1687 Westview Street Аϫxêxonde Proposal
February 3, 2024, from Linda Menke at 7219 LaValle Drive
ͻL ğƒ ǞƩźƷźƓŭ to offer a perspective on the Westview Development project. In general, I am open to
development and see this type of project as a plus for our community.
That said, I live in Bayview Villas where Main Street is literally in my backyard. Traffic on Main Street has
become a ƒğƆƚƩ źƭƭǒĻ ƚǝĻƩ ƷŷĻ Ќ͵Ў ǤĻğƩƭ ƷŷğƷ ǞĻǝĻ lived there. We deal with nonstop trucks, cars,
construction vehicles, police and emergency vehicles day in/day out. Speeding is constant. Amazon and
the development on and near 20th Ave has not helped in this regard.
L ķƚƓƷ ŅğǝƚƩ ƒƚǝźƓŭ ŅƚƩǞğƩķ ǞźƷŷ this project until we see a solution for quieting this traffic issue. You
simply must ğķķƩĻƭƭ Ʒŷźƭ źƭƭǒĻ͵ͼ
Thank you,
Linda Menke
7219 LaValle Drive
February 6, 2024 Response from Mark Staz
ЧxijŏċêϽ϶
Thank you for reaching out with your concerns regarding the proposed development on the LaLonde
property at 1687 Westview Street.
As you point out, the vast majority of trips on Main Street initiate from outside of CentervilleЪs
boarders. Developments in Lino Lakes and Hugo are the primary drivers of increased traic. Even
with no further development in Centerville, traic levels on Main Street will continue to climb. This
development is expected to produce êŵŗƇŏċ϶Ͳͬͬ϶А϶ͳͬͬ vehicle trips per day. This compares to the
current traic levels on Main Street which are in the neighborhood of 11,000 per day. With these
trips likely to split in either direction from Centerville Road, that would leave, say, a 350 trip
increase or about 3%. By comparison, your development (Bayview Villas) added around 160 trips
per day, when it was added.
Speed enforcement is always something we can ask our police department to step up. We can also
record speed data to gauge how bad the speeding problem is. Once we are out of the possible
snow season, I can ask our highway folks at the county to gather that data.
We are collecting the comments received on this development and will share them with the
Planning Commission, City Council and the general public as part of the public hearing process.
Please let me know if you have further questions or wish to speak with me directly about any
particular issue. Thanks again.
