Date: May 24, 2024
To: Mark Statz, Centerville City Administrator
Athanasia Lewis, Centerville Assistant City Administrator
From: Jeff Holmberg, Superintendent of Centennial Schools
Re: Centerville Elementary Projected Enrollment Trend
Centennial Schools has been developing a long-range plan for the school district by looking at current
district enrollment and demographic information and examining district facilities relative to providing
space for current and future programming opportunities for students and serving our communities.
Considering the proposed apartment building on the LaLonde Property, and upon your request, the
district has reviewed projected enrollment trends for the Centerville attendance area. The school
district asked TeamWorks International to evaluate the impact on enrollment a proposed 104-unit
apartment complex would have on Centerville Elementary School. The report from TeamWorks
International indicated that the student yield from this type of housing is calculated at .25 students
per unit, giving the potential for an additional 26 students within the Centerville boundary.
Notably, the student yield from the proposed apartment complex would include elementary, middle,
and high school students in this projection. It would likely be spread out over multiple levels and
grade levels.
Centennial will continue to monitor student enrollment projections annually, relative to community
growth and development, and adjust our long-range plan to serve our communities and students.
