City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting Minutes <br />May 8, 2024 <br /> <br />X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> <br />1. Administrator/Engineer Report – Administrator Statz stated that his report was contained in <br />the packet and that he would be happy to address any questions from the Council. He provided <br />the Council with a brief review. He discussed the summer programs, volunteer opportunities, <br />thanked all that participated in Park Cleanup Day and stated that the Parks & Recreation <br />Committee would be bringing a program forward for Rental Kayaks soon. Assistant City <br />Administrator Lewis stated that there would be a Veterans Breakfast to be held in conjunction <br />with Veterans Day on May 25, 2024, from 9-11 a.m. at Kelly’s Korner asked for assistance in <br />promoting. Administrator Statz stated that Seasonal P.W. Technicians were wanted with the city <br />having the positions still open and the city was very flexible. He reported that the Quad Area <br />Chamber of Commerce would be hosting a Senior Expo. on May 16, 2024, at St. Genevieve’s. <br />He also stated that today Centerville Lake would be sprayed with the Alum Treatment by Rice <br />Creek Watershed District. He briefly touched on the LaLonde Project Public Hearing with 120 <br />individuals in attendance and it was a lengthy meeting. He stated that the Preliminary Plat was <br />tabled, and it would go before the Committee on June 4, 2024 to accept/deny with Council on <br />June 12, 2024. Assistant City Administrator Lewis gave a brief report on the new History Niche, <br />stating that Anoka County would be holding Cemetery Tours, with St. Genevieve’s taking place <br />shortly, but tickets needed to be purchased to participate on the Anoka County Historical Society <br />website. She stated that the City’s History Niche included information regarding several <br /> <br />birth/death records and an interactive ledger. <br /> <br />2. Council Reports <br /> <br />a. Taylor – <br />(i) Economic Development Authority - Council Member Taylor gave no report. <br />(ii) Police Governing Board – Council Member Taylor gave no report. <br /> <br />b. Koski – He thanked the Lions for their donation to the Parks & Recreation Committee, he stated <br />that the group did a wonderful job with all their events and thank you to staff for the Veteran’s <br />Breakfast at Kelly’s and that the Fete des Lacs recently met and thanked all of the members for <br />their hard work. <br /> (i) Planning & Zoning Commission – Council Member Koski stated that the Commission <br />meeting was held the previous evening, and he thanked the community for their input, <br />and he felt that it was a good meeting. He also thanked the staff and stated job well done <br />making all of the arrangements for the meeting. <br /> (ii) Fire Steering Committee – Council Member Koski gave no report. <br /> <br />c. Sweeney - <br />(i) Fire Steering Committee – Council Member Sweeney gave no report. <br />(ii) Parks & Recreation Committee – Council Member Sweeney stated that the Kayak <br />Rental was through Whenever Sports, it would be a 4-slot kiosk and the contract period <br />would be for five years. Brief discussion was held on an additional volleyball court per a <br />submitted request, purchasing a flowerpot tree for Cornerstone Park, purchasing a Main <br />Street Market Sign, and they chose the Volunteer Appreciation trinkets. <br />(iii) Fire Protection Council – Council Member Sweeney stated that the amount of grants <br />that were available has been reduced by approximately 10%, that there is a large amount <br />Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
