<br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />WORK SESSION & CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />May 22, 2024 <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City of Centerville held their Work Session and their <br />regularly scheduled City Council Meeting on May 22, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. (respectively), in <br />Council Chambers. The regularly scheduled meeting (6:30 p.m.) was live streamed by North Metro TV. <br /> <br />WORK SESSION (5:00 PM) <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Love called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. <br />1. Roll Call <br /> <br />PRESENT: Mayor D. Love <br />Council Member Russ Koski <br />Not Approved <br />Council Member Darrin Mosher <br />Council Member Terry Sweeney <br />Council Member Raye Taylor <br /> <br />ABSENT: Junior Council Member Avery Sauber (Non-Voting) <br /> <br />STAFF: City Administrator, Mark Statz <br /> Assistant City Administrator Athanasia Lewis <br /> City Attorney, Kurt Glaser <br /> <br />II.DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />1.Cannabis Zoning <br />Administrator Statz stated that with the upcoming laws and regulations, Council may desire to give <br />some thought to how to proceed with regulations associated with licensing, requirements, allowed <br />zoning districts for sales, etc. <br />Discussion ensued regarding waiting for other Anoka County communities to fulfill licensing amounts, <br />exploring local businesses who may want to make these types of sales, a process for choosing a licensee, <br />placing a moratorium of sales allowing for additional research and review of the law and regulations, <br />growing of cannabis, etc. Discussion also ensued regarding the possibility of allowing sales in the B-1 <br />(Commercial District) and the I-1 (Industrial District) with a required public hearing before the Planning <br />& Zoning Commission for a code amendment and placing a moratorium shortly there after due to timing <br />of the new law. <br /> <br />2. City Hall Campus Improvements <br /> <br />Administrator Statz stated that numerous updates to the City Hall Campus had been completed but felt <br />that additional consideration should be given to those that were previously proposed and held off on, <br />(i.e., irrigation, management of existing turf/boulevard and handrail along the sidewalk). <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding the potential for installation of artificial turf and an irrigation system. Staff <br />was requested to obtain bids/quotes. <br /> <br />
