It is my honor and privilege to present the 2023 <br />2023 presented some significant staffing challenges for CLPD, <br />staffing challenges that are being felt by cities all across the <br />country. <br />profession, along with public protests and a few major incidents, <br />have made college aged students think twice about choosing to <br />enter this profession.Enrollment is down in many College Law <br />Enforcement Training Programs, but there is hope.What the <br />news tends to cover so negatively is unfortunately not an accurate <br />picture. At CLPD, we do great work every single day.Our <br />partnerships with neighboring agencies are strong. We have <br />hired and have retained terrific officers that are truly dedicated to <br />our mission of serving our communities with courage and <br />compassion.I could not be more proud of the women and men of <br />this department and all the amazing ways they serve. While we as officers or as an <br />strive to leave each call better than we found it.I see evidence of that all the time as I read <br />reports and receive emails and cards from residents. <br />organizational excellence is demonstrated on a daily basis.We currently have one full-time <br />officer position open, and while we have interviewed numerous candidates, we have yet to find <br />one with the skillset needed to meet our high standards.Hiring is a challenge, and great <br />candidates are in high demand.We are working harder than ever to recruit the right <br />candidate, someone who is willing to join a great team, willing to learn, willing to serve, and <br />does so with compassion. <br />As you take the time to read through this annual report, I hope you enjoy seeing the great <br />work our officers are involved in.CLPD has a very strong commitment to provide the highest <br />level of police services possible every singe day.Feel free to contact me if you have any <br />questions. <br />Police Governing Board, City Councils, City Administrators, Citizens, Schools, and Business <br />Community for their continued support and encouragement. <br />together to make our cities in Anoka County the best places to live, work, and play! <br />Serving with Courage and Compassion, <br />James Mork <br />4 <br /> <br />
