CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: July 24, 2024 Administration WS 2.1.b TITLE OF ISSUE: City Bus Tour - LaMotte Park - Community Center Discussion BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: For some time now, the Lions Club has expressed a desire to partner with the City on a potential Community Center. Recent public input sessions (Town Hall, Music in the Park, etc.) have revealed that there is a broader interest from residents for this type of facility as well. For a number of reasons, LaMotte Park may be a preferred location for a potential building, however it is certainly not the only potential spot for it. Many things will need to be considered, including: facility capacity, uses, parking requirements, location, displaced park functions (if any), financing, timing, rental policies, maintenance and other logistical items. Also tied to this discussion is the status of the existing warming house building. It is in need of serious repair or demolition. Staff will be seeking input on whether a project of this nature is something we wish to explore. COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: TBD REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Discussion item only.
