CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR ACTION Agenda Item # Department: RequestedMeetingDate: September 16, 2024 Administration/EDA IX.5 TITLE OF ISSUE: Placemaking - Cornerstone Park BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: At the last city council meeting, the council approved a recommendation from the Parks & Recreation committee to purchase and place a Fiore (7-pot Grande) tree at the center of Cornerstone Park. This unique piece of art will be a focal point as you enter the community from the west and it will further the City's placemaking goals, as outlined in the Council's Strategic Plan. The Fiore tree is custom made, so there are a lot of options with design features. This artwork will be primarily funded by the Park Dedication Fund, however there may be some added expenses, depending on customization. Staff is requesting that the EDA consider contributing funds toward this placemaking feature. COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: TBD REQUESTED ACTION: Discussion.
