Staff has explored one option for this type of surface sold under the brand-name PickleRoll. While PicleRoll sells roll-out products as the name suggests, their 4Óx4Ó flat panel system may be more practical. More research is needed if we were to pursue this type of approach. Summary and Recommendations Staff is recommending the purchase of 4 net systems and the striping of 3 pickleball courts, at a cost not to exceed $5,500. Additionally, staff recommends the purchase of one courtÓs worth of PickleRoll or similar temporary surfacing to test how well it performs and how much effort it takes to install and reinstall. The cost of this purchase would be $13,500. After receiving feedback from the public on the two different court surfaces (bare concrete and PickleRoll), the committee could evaluate whether further investment in temporary surfaces should be made. The courts would be set up on the existing hockey rink, leaving the full court basketball area in place. Staff is recommending that the Committee request financing of up to $10,000 from the City Council for the project. Then, it would be prudent to approve one of the layouts presented by Chair Grahek and authorize her to work with Public Works staff to begin more detailed layout and construction planning.
