CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />RES. #24-0',W' <br />RESOLUTION <br />ACKNOWLEDGING PROGRAM GUIDELINES AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY ADMINISTRATOR TO APPLY FOR AND EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT <br />FOR THE PRIVATE PROPERTY INFLOW AND INFILTRATION GRANT <br />PROGRAM THROUGH THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL <br />WHEREAS, the city of Centerville operates a sanitary sewer system which flows into the <br />metro -wide sewer system operated by Metropolitan Council Environmental Services <br />(MCES); and <br />WHEREAS, MCES has established a grant program, funded by the state legislature, to <br />assist private property owners with the abatement of inflow and infiltration of clear water <br />into the sanitary sewer system by repairing private laterals between the home and the city's <br />mainline sewer; and <br />WHEREAS, the city is eligible to apply for said funds because we have had instances <br />where our sewer flow rate has exceeded 80% of the maximum peak goal for our system, <br />as set by MCES; and <br />WHEREAS, excess clear water flow in the sanitary sewer system costs the city's sewer <br />utility money and is a waste of MCES system capacity; and <br />WHEREAS, in order to apply for these grant funds, the city must present a resolution <br />acknowledging the program guidelines, which are attached to this resolution for reference <br />and ; <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, The Centerville City Council hereby confirms the <br />authority of the City Administrator to apply for the Private Property Inflow and Infiltration <br />Grant Program and certifies that they have read the program guidelines and support <br />participation in the program. <br />Passed by the City Council of the City of Centerville on this 13th day of November 2024. <br />Mayor, D.
