Memorandum <br />Date:November 26, 2024 <br />To:Honorable Mayor and Council <br />From:Mark Statz, PE –City Administrator/Engineer <br />Subject:City Hall Campus Stormwater Reuse andRain Garden <br />Background <br />In June, staff broughtforward some concerns with the maintenance of the boulevard <br />between thetrail and curb along Main Street, in front of City Hall. Several options to <br />improve the aesthetics were explored anddiscussedwithout reaching a consensus. At a <br />minimum, the cost to irrigate and sod the boulevard area was estimated at around $18,000 <br />(zone 1, below). Thecostto irrigatethe remainingturf grass areas (zones 2 and 3)was <br />around$30,000. Ultimately, itseemed that this was too higha price for a project which <br />was notenvironmentally friendly. <br />Since then, staff has been exploring options to help fund the project and serve an <br />environmentalpurpose at the same time. TheRice Creek Watershed District has grants <br />available for projects like this, with funding available for up to half of the costs. Staff has <br /> <br />
