The applicant can request up to 3 colors and the city will do its <br />best to accommodate these requests. <br />Color Guidelines <br /> Centennial School-related events Î scarlet and ivory <br /> PresidentÓs Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, VeteranÓs Day, Labor Day, Election <br />Day, Fete des Lacs Î red, white, blue <br /> New YearÓs Day Î white <br /> Juneteenth Î red, black, green <br /> Thanksgiving Day and the Day after Î red, orange, brown <br /> Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Î purple, yellow <br /> Christmas Day Î red, green <br /> Operation Greenlight for Veterans Î green <br /> Public Safety Î red, blue <br /> Public Works Î yellow, orange <br />Process for Considering Requests <br /> Requests must be made at least 30 days before the requested date. The City Council may <br />waive this requirement when it is not practical but reserves the right to deny any requests <br />made with less than 30 daysÓ notice. <br /> In instances where there are multiple requests for decorative lighting on the same date or <br />different dates to commemorate the same event, topic, or awareness, the requests will be <br />processed and granted on a first-come, first-serve basis. <br /> Decorative lighting requests that have been approved will begin at sunset on the <br />requested date unless otherwise requested. <br /> The city provides this opportunity to requestors as a public service. City acceptance of <br />decorative lighting requests does not constitute the CityÓs endorsement of any <br />organization or topic. <br /> The city will not grant lighting requests for private events, including but not limited to <br />birthdays or personal anniversaries. <br /> Decorative lighting requests may not be used for financial gain or the requesting <br />organization or individual. <br /> The City reserves the right to revoke prior approval if it becomes aware after the approval <br />was issued that terms of this policy have not been met or the requester has provided false <br />or misleading information in their request. <br /> The maximum time for request is for one week. <br /> Requests for decorative lighting are subject to the Minnesota Government Data Practices <br />Act (Minnesota Statutes Chapter 13); data provided in the request may be considered <br />public data. <br /> <br />
