CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />PROCLAMATION <br />Paul Palzer <br />WHEREAS, Paul Palzer was hired by the City of Centerville on April 25, 1994; and <br />WHEREAS, he was the first full-time City Employee, hired as the Public Works Director/Building Inspector <br />leading a team that would ensure the stability of infrastructure (municipal water/sewer, streets, parks, etc.), <br />Building and Zoning and served as the only staff person available 12:00 to 4:00pm M, Tu, Th and all-day Fridays <br />until 1995; and <br />WHEREAS, he was appointed the City's Designated Building Official in 1995 and continues to serve this role <br />today. He continued to advance his educational experience/career throughout his service with the city, achieving <br />6 International Code Council Certificates, the most prominent becoming a Building Code Specialist, the highest <br />combination Certificate of any Building Code Official in the State; and <br />WHEREAS, he served the City of Centerville during the majority of its housing development and was <br />instrumental in planning infrastructure needs for then and the future (e.g. a new City Hall, three Public Works <br />sites, new/amendments to City Code, forward visioning and planning) have been just a few extraordinary qualities <br />that have truly led him in his career with the city; and <br />WHEREAS, Paul has experienced the coming and goings of 8 Mayors, 20 Council Members, 8 City <br />Administrators, and over 50 staff members; and has served twice as Interim City Co-Administrator totaling 2 <br />years; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Paul has mentored 4 building inspectors, 3 of whom have gone on to serve as Designated Building <br />Officials, and mentored 8 Public Works staff members all becoming fully certified in water and wastewater <br />operations; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, among Paul's accomplishments has been instituting the Mill & Overlay program, Brine Salt <br />Reduction System, LaMotte Park Water Reuse Irrigation System and a successful Public Works and Building <br />Departments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Paul's dedication and commitment to the City and community, work ethic, leadership and <br />knowledge have been appreciated and will be missed; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Paul officially retires from the City of Centerville on December 27, 2024, and is being publicly <br />recognized and honored for his years of exemplary public service. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Centerville acknowledges, with sincere appreciation, <br />the dedication and loyal service of Paul Palzer for his 30 years, 9 months of distinguished service to the residents <br />and businesses of our city. <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council, staff and residents extend their congratulations and best <br />wishes to Paul and his family for the many years of health, happiness, and success in retirement.
