CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />PROCLAMATION <br />Paul Palzer <br />WHEREAS, Paul Palzer was hired by the City of Centerville on April 25, 1994; and <br />WHEREAS, he was the first full-time City Employee, hired as the Public Works Director/Building Inspector leading a <br />team that would ensure the stability of infrastructure (municipal water/sewer, streets, parks, etc.), Building and Zoning and <br />served as the only staff person available 12:00 to 4:00pm M, Tu, Th and all -day Fridays until 1995; and <br />WHEREAS, he was appointed the City's Designated Building Official in 1995 and continues to serve this role today. He <br />continued to advance his educational experience/career throughout his service with the city, achieving 6 International Code <br />Council Certificates, the most prominent becoming a Building Code Specialist, the highest combination Certificate of any <br />Building Code Official in the State; and <br />WHEREAS, he served the City of Centerville during the majority of its housing development and was instrumental in <br />planning infrastructure needs for then and the future (e.g. a new City Hall, three Public Works sites, new/amendments to <br />City Code, forward visioning and planning) have been just a few extraordinary qualities that have truly led him in his career <br />with the city; and <br />WHEREAS, Paul has experienced the coming and goings of 8 Mayors, 20 Council Members, 8 City Administrators, and <br />over 50 staff members; and has served twice as Interim City Co -Administrator totaling 2 years; and <br />WHEREAS, Paul has mentored 4 building inspectors, 3 of whom have gone on to serve as Designated Building Officials, <br />and mentored 8 Public Works staff members all becoming fully certified in water and wastewater operations; and <br />WHEREAS, among Paul's accomplishments has been instituting the Mill & Overlay program, Brine Salt Reduction <br />System, LaMotte Park Water Reuse Irrigation System and a successful Public Works and Building Departments; and <br />WHEREAS, Paul's dedication and commitment to the City and community, work ethic, leadership and knowledge have <br />been appreciated and will be missed; and <br />WHEREAS, Paul officially retires from the City of Centerville on December 27, 2024, and is being publicly recognized <br />and honored for his years of exemplary public service. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Centerville acknowledges, with sincere appreciation, the <br />dedication and loyal service of Paul Palzer for his 30 years, 9 months of distinguished service to the residents and businesses <br />of our city. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council, staff and residents extend their congratulations and best wishes to <br />Paul and his family for the many years of health, happiness, and success in retirement.
