CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />CWj,'.e teryCCe <br />Esta6Cished 1857 <br />Agenda Item # <br />Department: <br />Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />IX.S <br />Administration <br />January 8, 2025 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />League of Minnesota Cities - City Day on the Hill <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />Annually, the League of Minnesota Cities (LMC) hosts the "City Day on the Hill". The event includes a series <br />of seminars and round -table presentations on topical issues during the morning. Often, the Governor and top <br />legislators will also address the attendees. The afternoon is reserved for one-on-one meetings with legislators. <br />Cities can request meeting times with the State Senator and State Representative who represent their city. The <br />City Council and staff are encouraged to attend. <br />Last year, our delegation was able to meet with Sen. Gustafson, Rep. Engen and even got a few minutes with <br />the Governor. Developing these relationships can be very valuable as the city lobbies for or against legislation <br />and can be helpful when requesting legislative assistance on unique issues. <br />COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: <br />$125 per attendee.
