Memorandum of Understanding
<br />WHEREAS, This Memorandum of Understanding is by and between the Union of Operating Engineers,
<br />Local 49 (Union) and the City of Centerville (City). It outlines changes to the existing contract between
<br />the two parties, which remains in full force and effect through the end of 2026, and
<br />WHEREAS, through an organizational restructuring, the city of Centerville has established two new
<br />positions and eliminated one position within the public works department,
<br />WHEREAS, these changes will take effect beginning January 1, 2025, and
<br />WHEREAS, the city council has approved these new positions and their associated Pay Grade on the city's
<br />pay equity scale, and
<br />WHEREAS, these two positions are: Public Works Foreperson (Pay Grade 8) and Public Works
<br />Technician/Building Official (Pay Grade 9), and
<br />WHEREAS, the position which will be eliminated is the Public Works Director, and
<br />WHEREAS, all public works positions will now report directly to the City Administrator, and
<br />WHEREAS, the Job Descriptions and Pay Scales associated with the new positions are attached to this
<br />Memorandum, and
<br />WHEREAS, these positions are expected to be "Non -Exempt" positions, meaning they will receive normal
<br />overtime pay, and
<br />WHEREAS, these positions will be governed by the union's contract and the parties agree that the positions
<br />and job grades are hereby incorporated into the contract, as part of this bargaining unit, and
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, the two parties agree that this Memorandum and its attachments, solely,
<br />memorialize the changes to the city's organizational structure as it relates to union positions.
