<br />City of Centerville <br />Parks & Recreation Meeting Minutes <br />June 5, 2024 <br />2. Committee Member Updates <br />a. Logo Contest/Presentations <br />Committee Member Akpan reported on the results of the Logo Contest. The 2024 theme for the <br />Logo Contest was “Shoot for the Moon”. There were two age categories: Kindergarten through <br />thththstndrd <br />5 grade and 6 through 8 grades each with a 1, 2 and 3 place winner plus an honorable <br />mention. Many entries were received, and they were creative and colorful. After the Logo winners <br />had been chosen, Mayor Love presented each of them with a check, letter and certificate. <br /> <br />b. Music In The Park <br />Committee Member Peterson reported that all but a couple of bands have submitted their contracts. <br />He shared the first four dates and the band playing. He has been being enlightened by his son how <br />to run the new mixer, which will be connected to a laptop, therefore taking up less space. <br /> <br />Chairperson Errickson-Grahek informed the members that Carboni’s has declined to participate at <br />this activity. It was suggested that they be asked to provide tips for other food vendors and possibly <br />a reason for them not participating this year. She also received a thank you letter from SES for <br />obtaining the license for 2024. <br /> <br />Each member is encouraged to take a MITP sign to place on their property for a maximum of 14 <br />days, remove for 1 day, then replace, etc. <br /> <br />3. Chairperson’s Report <br /> <br />Chairperson Errickson-Grahek has two lists of Park Priorities, from the community survey, for the <br />members to consider including the two highest priorities: Trees and Playground Equipment. The <br />next three items to consider are: to add power in Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park, repair/remodel <br />the existing Warming House and to build a new Community Center. In addition, some smaller <br />projects could be added such as disc golf, volleyball court and/or the Kayak Kiosk <br /> <br />4. Council Liaison Update – Mr. Terry Sweeney <br /> <br />See VIII. Updates, 1.b. LaLond Apartment Building (above) <br /> <br /> <br />IX. ADJOURNMENT <br /> <br />Motion made by Committee Member Seeley, seconded by Committee Member Errickson-Grahek to <br />adjourn the June 5, 2024, Parks and Recreation Committee Meeting at 7:54pm.
