CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />January 22, 2025 <br />Administration <br />VII. <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />Metro Cities Membership Renewal <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />Centerville is a member of Metro Cities, an off-shoot of the League of Minnesota Cities, focuced on legislative <br />policy. The organization works with legislators to ensure they understand the implication of proposed <br />legislation on cities. In 2023, our relationship with this organization allowed us to get our Police Chief in front <br />of the legislative committee to testify regarding the need for the funding formula to take into account cities who <br />utilize JPA's for their police and fire departments. Having this voice in St. Paul is invaluable.
