CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />January 11, 2025 <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Work Session Meeting of the City Council was held at <br />Centennial Fire Station 1 on January 11, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. <br />WORK SESSION (8:00 AM) <br />I.CALL TO ORDER <br />1. Roll Call <br />II. DISCUSSION ITEMS <br />1. Introductions and Team Building Exercises <br />The meeting kicked off with introductions and ice breaker questions. The council responded to the following ice <br />breaker questions: <br />¤ Are you someone who, when in an elevator hits the button several times just to be sure it knows <br />youÓre there? Explain <br />¤ Are you someone who feels compelled to take charge when a person or group is struggling or to <br />speak up for those who shy away from public speaking? Explain <br />¤ What would you like to leave as your legacy and why? <br /> <br />2. City Government Basics <br />Administrator Statz reviewed the slides on statutory cities, noting that Centerville is a Statutory A city. The roles <br />and responsibilities of the mayor and council were also covered. Administrator Statz also reviewed City <br />boards/Commissions (Parks and Recreation, Economic Development Authority, Planning & Zoning <br />Commission), and Partner Agency Organizations (Anoka County Government, Centennial Police Department, <br />Centennial Fire Department & SBM, Met Council, North Metro, Rice Creek Watershed). <br />3. Meeting Logistics <br />Mayor Golden reviewed meeting logistics such as: meeting dates & times, accommodations, attendance, <br />communication preferences, and public comments/open mic at the beginning of meetings. <br />4. Downtown History <br />Administrator Statz provided a brief history on downtown redevelopment activities such as: studies, public <br />input, property assembly, infrastructure investment, development proposals, and future Comprehensive Plan <br />requirements.
