CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />February 12, 2025 <br />Engineering <br />VII.5 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />Res. #24-0XX Calling for a Public Hearing on the creation of an Inflow & Infiltration Reduction Grant Program <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />The city was recently awarded a grant, through the Metropolitan Council's Environmental Services (MCES) <br />department to assist with the cost of private sewer lateral inspection and repair to reduce inflow & infiltration <br />into the sewer system. Staff recently learned that this grant requires the creation of a parallel city grant program <br />for the money to flow through. There is no requirement for the city to contribute to its own grant program. <br />Minnesota State Statue authorizes the creation of such a grant program. The statute requires a public <br />hearing to be held to take input on the parameters of the program. The attached resolution calls for a public <br />hearing to be held at the City Council's March 12 City Council meeting. Then, after taking input and making <br />any desired revisions to the program the Council should take action to officially adopt the program and its <br />guidelines.
