CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: March 26, 2025 Administration -WS II.1 TITLE OF ISSUE: Legislative Priorities - LGA, Public Safety Funding, Zoning Reform Bills that Limit Local Decision-Making BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: Earlier this month, several members of the city council met with our legislators at City Day on the Hill to discuss legislative priorities for the city. The Council discussed the importance of Local Government Aid (LGA) for small cities and our need for reliable revenue sources for budget planning purposes. See the attached letter. Council also spoke with our legislators about several zoning reform bills that would limit local decision-making authority. Both of our legislators confirmed that they oppose all of these bills. A resolution is included in the packet for more discussion at the regular council meeting. During our meeting with Senator Gustafson, she noted that she is working on a public safety funding bill and would welcome a letter of support from the city. See the attached letter.
