CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30p.m. <br /> <br />1. Roll Call <br /> <br />Present: <br />Commissioner Olson Approved <br />Commissioner Richard Nelson <br />Chair Dawn Kalina <br />Commissioner Jeannie Seppala <br />Commissioner Jim Carciofini <br /> <br />Absent: Commissioner Bruce Thompson <br /> Chair Jon Krueger <br /> <br />Staff: Interim City Administrator, Athanasia Lewis <br /> Consulting City Planner, Phil Carlson <br /> <br />Council Council Member David Kubat <br /> <br />II. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />The agenda was approved as presented. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Seppala, seconded by Commissioner Olson to Approve the Agenda. <br />All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />IV. PUBLIC HEARING (6:30 PM or shortly thereafter) <br />1. None <br /> <br />V. AWARDS, PRESENTATIONS, APPEARANES <br />1. Planning & Zoning Presentation by Phil Carlson <br />Consulting Planner Phil Carlson provided an overview on variances, noting that a variance grants <br />approval to depart from the requirements of the zoning ordinance. He also reviewed when a <br />variance can be granted. <br /> <br />Variances can be granted for: <br />1. Practical Difficulties: <br />a. Property will be used in a reasonable manner <br />b. There are unique circumstances to property not caused by the landowner <br />c. The variance will not alter essential character of locality <br />Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br />
