City of Centerville <br />City Council Work Session & Meeting Minutes <br />February 26, 2025 <br />Motion by Mayor Golden, seconded by Council Member Rios to table the resolution, invite the Planning <br />Commission to re-consider the parking requirements. All in favor. Motion carried. <br /> <br />Council Member Kubat suggested having Mr. Phil Carlson, City Planner-Stantec, review parking <br />requirements throughout the different zoning districts. <br /> <br />X. COUNCIL/ADMINISTRATOR ANNOUNCEMETS <br /> <br />1. Administrator/Engineer Report – Interim City Administrator Lewis stated that her report was <br />contained in the packet and that she would be happy to address any questions from the Council. She <br />provided the Council with a brief review. <br /> <br />2. Council Reports <br /> <br />th <br />Junior Council Member Wynn stated that the girl’s hockey team placed 7 at the state tournament with <br />Ms. Nora Akpan with girl’s wrestling who is currently number one in state and again will be returning to <br />compete. Junior Council Member Wynn also stated that the DECCA Club was also going to state. Mayor <br />Golden congratulated all the individuals and wished them good luck. <br /> <br />City Attorney Glaser stated that since the last Council meeting, the search firm for the City Administrator <br />position has been signed, a formal kickoff meeting with the Personnel Committee was held. The <br />Committee determined that the first steps should be to hold stakeholder meetings to assist in developing <br />the core competencies for the position, developing the job description and obtain input regarding the <br />selection process. He stated that approximately a dozen individuals would be invited for interviews (e.g. <br />Council Members, selected staff, Chairs of Boards, Chief of Police and Fire, and a group of citizens (e.g. <br />Centerville Lions and business owners)). Attorney Glaser stated that the firm would like to interview <br />applicants at the end of April and that he had been tasked with arranging the availability, being <br />cognoscente of council’s desire to fill the position as soon as possible. Consensus of the Council was the <br />week of April 21, 2025, for interviews. Council Member Rios stated that if the pool was not robust <br />enough, interviews could be later allowing for additional candidates. <br /> <br />a. Kubat – <br />(i) Parks & Recreation Committee – Council Member Kubat stated that he could not provide <br />an update as there had been no meeting. He stated that he thanked the members for their <br />events that they held in February and that he was looking forward to improvements to parks <br />and potentially having ability to use them in various ways. <br />(ii) Centennial Fire District Steering Committee – Council Member Kubat gave no report. <br /> <br />b. Koski – He stated that he attended the League of MN Cities Elected Leaders Institute along with <br />the Mayor and Council Member Rios. He stated that there was one speaker that he found to be <br />very interesting as the session was about building relationships with your constituents. <br /> (i) Planning & Zoning Commission – Council Member Koski gave no report. <br />(ii) Fire Steering Committee – Council Member Koski gave no report. <br /> <br />c. Rios – She also stated that she had attended the League of MN Cities Elected Leaders Institute <br />where there were great sessions and that she enjoyed them especially the legal and financial <br />sessions. <br />(i) Economic Development Authority – Council Member Rios gave no report. <br />Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
