AWARDS, PRESENTATIONS, APPEARANES <br />1.Variance Review Î 1421 Mound Trail (Garage & Pool) <br />Planning Consultant Phil Carlson introduced this item as presented in his memo, noting that this is <br />an informal review for a variance request for a garage and pool. Discussion ensued about the location <br />of the proposed accessory structures, definitions of yard, required yard, rear yard, setbacks, and the <br />intent of the City Code relative to placement of accessory structures. Discussion also ensued about <br />common law in Minnesota on the lakeshore, with the lake being the front yard and the yard facing <br />the road being the rear yard. Phil noted that there is no question that over the years the interpretation <br />has been different than his, noting that the Council ultimately determines whether a variance is <br />granted. <br /> <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />61 <br /> <br />
