CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Regular Meeting of the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission was held in Council Chambers on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. <br /> <br />MEETING Î 6:30 P.M. <br /> <br />I. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 6:30p.m. <br /> <br />1. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />The agenda was approved as presented. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Seppala, seconded by Commissioner Olson to Approve the Agenda. <br />All in favor. Motion carried. <br />IV. PUBLIC HEARING (6:30 PM or shortly thereafter) <br />1. None <br />V. AWARDS, PRESENTATIONS, APPEARANES <br />1.Variance Review Î 1421 Mound Trail (Garage & Pool) <br />Planning Consultant Phil Carlson introduced this item as presented in his memo, noting that this is <br />an informal review for a variance request for a garage and pool. Discussion ensued about the location <br />of the proposed accessory structures, definitions of yard, required yard, rear yard, setbacks, and the <br />intent of the City Code relative to placement of accessory structures. Discussion also ensued about <br />common law in Minnesota on the lakeshore, with the lake being the front yard and the yard facing <br />the road being the rear yard. Phil noted that there is no question that over the years the interpretation <br />has been different than his, noting that the Council ultimately determines whether a variance is <br />granted. <br /> <br />Page 1 of 3 <br />61 <br /> <br />
