CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />May 28, 2025 <br />Parks & Recreation <br />VIII.3 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />MWP Recreation Proposal for Playground Equipment at LaMotte Park <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />For the last several months, the Parks and Recreation Committee, in coordination with staff have been <br />reviewing proposals for playground equipment at Laurie LaMotte Park. Consensus was reached about working <br />with MWP Recreation to refine a proposal that reflects input from the P&R Committee and staff. While there is <br />a lot of excitement about the aesthetics of the playground, there are several outstanding concerns about verbiage <br />in the proposal as proposed, and as revised. Concerns involve contradictions in the contract language pertaining <br />to scope of work and exclusions; there are also concerns about drain tile, irrigation, removal of existing <br />equipment, and installation of the new equipment. Staff has requested that MWP provide a revised proposal <br />with the requested amendments, and we are awaiting the vendor's response. Once a revised proposal is received, <br />legal and engineering will review the final proposal to ensure legal and engineering standards are met. <br />COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: <br />$427,000 ($127,00 Park Dedication fees); $300,000 Capital Replacement Fund. <br />REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: <br />Motion to approve the purchase of playground equipment from MWP subject to final review and approval from <br />legal and engineering.
