CITY OF CENTERVILLEREQUEST FOR ACTION Agenda Item # Department: RequestedMeetingDate: February 3, 2026 Public Works V.1 TITLE OF ISSUE: Eagle Scout Project (Bat Houses) - Locations for Installation & Public Works Staff Time Needed BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: At the committee's last meeting, a proposal was received from Logan Hazzard for an Eagle Scout Project that would include the construction of three, three-post poles that would house two bat houses attached to their tops. Mr. Hazzard felt that he had ample time to construct the structures and provide them to the city for installation in several parks. He explained that he would not be able to install them prior to reaching age 18, as required by the regulations of his project. He advised that he could not provide annual maintenance of the houses because of school commitments. The committee requested that the Public Works Director provide a listing of suitable locations for the structures within the park system, which are attached. The Public Works Department recommends that if the Scout cannot install the three-post poles, they would alternatively place the bat houses (6 in total) in suitable tree locations as staff time permits in 2026.
