City of Centerville <br />Park & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br />May 7, 2025 <br />for Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park. The saucer swing was removed. The total cost with the change <br />is still within budget. Engineered certified hardwood will be used rather than standard woodchips. <br />The characteristics of the hardwood and the glider were discussed. The maintenance service <br />procedure, with a cost of $3,000 - $5,000, was described.Volunteer groups can also provide the <br />service to the hardwood. Every 3-5 years, a seal coat is needed. There is a five-year warranty. The <br />expected life of the pour-in-place surface is 10-15 years.Residents can scan the QR Code located <br />at the park. The pour-in-place surface can be added later.The Committee discussed access to the <br />playground. <br />Motion by Committee Member Fuchs, seconded by Committee Member Petersonto <br />recommend that City Council approve MWP Recreation’s proposal with the addition of the <br />swing set at Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park. All in favor. Motion carried. <br />There was a discussion about moving the existing equipment from Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park <br />to Royal Meadow Park.The suggestion was made to enhance Royal Meadow Park's amenities. <br />The schedule for updating parks within the City was reviewed. The removal and replacement of <br />equipment from one park to another will be discussed at the next Park and Recreation Committee <br />Meeting, with input from Public Works and MWP Recreation. <br />IV.PUBLIC HEARINGS – NONE <br /> <br />V.COMMITTEE BUSINESS (UNFINISHED) <br />1.Disc Golf <br />All costs are set for signage ($1,001.50) and baskets ($4,585). The ground sleeves will be metal <br />rather than cardboard. The cost for metal sleeves ($4,585). There are three different quotes for the <br />launch pads. Castle concrete $10,550 for 9 launch pads. Public Works could do it for $3,673.37. <br />The other option is using a railroad beam at the front, which has pros and cons. The pros and cons <br />were reviewed. The Committee was asked to consider the three options. The consensus was to go <br />with Public Works doing the launch pads' concrete work. It was also suggested to use wood to see <br />how much it is used. For City installation total cost would be $9,259.04 vs. $15,836.50 for <br />contracted work. <br />Motion made by Chairperson Errickson-Grahek, seconded by Committee Member <br />Freiermuthto recommend that the City Council have Public Works install the concrete pads <br />for the Disc Golf Course. All in favor.
