CITY OF CENTERVILLE REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: February 12, 2026 Public Works VI. TITLE OF ISSUE: Relocation of Electric Transformer for Well #1 BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: The Well #1 maintenance and rehabilitation project is in its second phase. The current aerial transformer that serves electricity to Well #1 is most likely the original transformer. This transformer is located on an older pole that staff recommends come down and be relocated to the ground, due to the condition of the pole and transformer. Relocating the transformer to the ground will make certain the tranformer will not be knocked down in a high winds scenario, thus eliminating the chance for power outage for the well from these circumstances. Staff requested that Xcel nergy provide an estimate for the relocation. The cost for relocating the transformer is $2,914.39. Xcel Energy initially reported that the normal cost for relocation is nearly $5,000, however, old equipment credits were provided to new cost formulas and the cost was reduced. COST AND SOURCE(S) OF FUNDING: REQUESTED COUNCIL ACTION: Motion to include the cost of Xcel Energy relocating the current transformer to the ground with a new transformer for $2,914.39 as part of the Well #1 maintenance and rehabilitation project.
