Fiore Tree

Parks & Recreation Committee Chair, Heidi Errickson-Grahek appeared before the council and provided
background regarding the proposed Fiore Tree. She stated that previously the Council showed their
support for the purchase and installation of a base-model, 12’, 7-basket, Fiore Tree, in an amount not to
exceed $25,000, with the understanding that its location serves as a focal point when you enter the
community, and that it aligns with council-adopted placemaking goals. Chair Errickson-Grahek stated
that the city applied for a T-Mobile Hometown Grant for the base model, with enhancements, and was
unsuccessful. Chair Errickson-Grahek stated that the committee requests to have Council authorize the
purchase of the 12’, 7-basket, Fiore Tree for placement in Cornerstone Park. Chair Errickson-Grahek
stated that some enhancements (electricity and irrigation) may be made later.

Administrator Lewis stated that the EDA may be willing to collaborate on the costs for the pots.

Motion by Council Member Rios, seconded by Council Member Kubat to Approve the Purchase
and Installation of a Base-Model, 12’, 7-basket, Fiore Tree in Cornerstone Park not to exceed
$25,000. All in favor. Motion carried.

2. Amazon Noise Mitigation Study Update

Administrator Lewis stated that the city has an $80,000 escrow from Amazon for implementation of noise
mitigation measures; in the event they are needed upon completion of a noise study conducted one year
after the Amazon facility is fully operational. The noise study concluded that the noise level complies
with the stated goals of the development. Earlier this year, the council approved a mitigation plan that
included planting of mature trees in strategic locations and acoustic wrapping installed on their 6-foot
fence along the west side of the site. Administrator Lewis stated that the plan shows eight new 12’ high
trees were planted where four original trees had died, and three in the middle area. It was stated that it
looks like there is room in the middle area for seven – 5’ trees to be replaced. Amazon has confirmed
that they will add the seven additional trees to the 19 shown in the plan. She stated that the original option
for the acoustic wrap and fence was no longer viable due to the cost. It was stated that they wouild need
to comply with the overall Landscape Plan. There was further discussion about the fence and the
expectations of the nearby homeowners for the fence barrier.
