City of Centerville
Park and Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes
April 2, 2025
for ages 5-12. Chairperson Errickson-Grahek stated that the existing equipment would not be used
by all three vendors for an alternative park as they had concerns regarding liability, and the new
play area would be closer to the pavilion as the pad would be larger.
It was the consensus of the committee to re-use some of the equipment at another park if it was in
good condition and deemed safe. Committee Member Fuchs investigated the type of wood chips
proposed, discovering that engineered rubber material was half the cost. Committee Member
Peterson explained that rubber becomes compressed over time and is suitable for wheelchairs and
crutches. Chairperson Erickson-Grahek compared pressed board to woodchips, and Committee
Member Peterson agreed with the comparison. Council Liaison Kubat suggested revisiting the
bidders in an attempt to have the bids be apples to apples regarding fall zone materials.
Chairperson Erickson-Grahek recommended that committee members review the bids thoroughly
and the item would be discussed at the next meeting. Staff would then be given a question listing
to take back to all bidders for responses.

VII. NEW BUSINESS

1.
