<br />City of Centerville <br />Park & Recreation Committee Meeting Minutes <br />August 6, 2025 <br />Opening. A weekend would most likely be best for the Grand Opening. Public Works has expressed <br />concern about maintenance. He will return to a committee meeting after the course is complete. <br /> <br />IV. PUBLIC HEARINGS – NONE <br /> <br />V. COMMITTEE BUSINESS (UNFINISHED) <br /> <br />1. Fiore Tree Grant Submittal <br /> <br />The grant request was submitted on June 30, 2025. It is anticipated that award recipients will be <br />announced by August 30, 2025. The cost for the Fiore Tree is $54,190.00. If the grant is not <br />received, the conversation will be needed as to what include with the basic tree. The original <br />approval was for $25,000. <br /> <br />2. Tree Plan <br /> <br />Committee Member Fuchs has requested assistance in completing some general tasks, such as <br />making phone calls to nurseries. Chairperson Errickson-Grahek has volunteered to assist in <br />completing this nearly finished project. Prices are being sought for the trees. Gerten’s was <br />contacted for pricing. Trees are priced at $200-$350 for 20-25 gallon trees ($6,000). The city may <br />receive contractor pricing, and P.W./Building Official, Mr. Dan Schmitz is researching that. Some <br />other vendors will be researched. There was a discussion about shrub maintenance. <br /> <br />VI. COMMITTEE BUSINESS (NEW) <br /> <br />st <br />1. Park Facility Permit Application – 1 Birthday Party, Hidden Spring Park <br /> <br />The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Hidden Spring <br />Park. The request was to include additional tables which are not available. <br /> <br />Motion by Committee Chair Errickson-Grahek, seconded by Committee Member <br />Freiermuth to recommend that the City Council approve the park facility permit application <br />st <br />for 1 Birthday Party, Hidden Spring Park on Saturday, August 23, 2025. All in favor. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />2. Movie in the Park <br /> <br />Committee Member Peterson provided an update on requesting quotes for possible movie <br />selections. A date for the Movie will need to be scheduled along with a rain date. Marketing of the <br />event will be done in the newsletter, Administrator’s Report, Social Media Outlets, and the City’s <br />website. Typically, this is done on the second weekend after school starts (September 13, 2025). <br />September 20, 2025, may be a better date. The consensus was to have it on September 13 with the <br />rain date on September 20. The movie will start at dusk (7:30 p.m.), with setup starting at 5:00 <br />p.m. The Wild Robot rents for $510, and that will be shown.
