CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting <br />Date:March, 2026 <br />Public Works <br />VIII. <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />At the September 24, 2025,City Council meeting,$15,000 was approved for the purchase of trees <br />and labor to complete the first year of parks tree planting plan. The Public Works staff removed the trees that <br />were scheduled to be removed,andlantingnew trees this spring. Staff is requesting that Councilapprove $4,926 <br />for an auger and mount, and $1,127 for a 24" auger bit that will fit our skidsterneeded for the plantings. These costs <br />would be included in first year cost of $15,000. Staff is also <br />proposing to purchase bareoottreesthetree plantinginstead of trees <br />. More trees are able tobeacquired and plantedwith the Public Works staff labor being used, and a <br />reductionin tree costs will be realized. The trees will be mulched,provided a watering bag for three years, and fertilized <br />twice a season. The equipment will be used for years and beyond.
