CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br />REQUEST FOR <br />COUNCIL ACTION <br />Agenda Item # Department: Requested Council Meeting Date: <br />April 16, 2026 <br />Public Works <br />VIII.2 <br />TITLE OF ISSUE: <br />Removal of City trees abutting 6886 and 6890 Deer Court <br />BACKGROUND AND SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION: <br />The City of Centerville's property is adjacent to both 6886 and 6890 Deer Court rear yard's property line. (See Exhibit A <br />and pictures). There are approximately 16 Ash and Box Elder trees that are dead or leaning significantly towards these <br />properties. Some threaten to fall on homeowner outbuildings and other damage to spruce trees and underground drainage <br />and irrigation could result. Staff obtained two bids to remove the trees. The low bid is $8,700 to remove trees and restore <br />the yard. While road restrictions exist, staff is requesting the City Council approve this work now, so when road <br />restrictions are lifted, the work can then proceed as soon as possible. Staff is attempting to remove the trees before they <br />inadvertently fall on resident property, since the issue was brought to Public Works staff's attention. Residents at 6886 <br />Deer Ct. have their own trees to remove during this process. A separate contract between the contractor and homeowner <br />to remove these trees will be independent of the above described work.
